Esoteric Teachings of the Tibetan Tantra, by C. A. This kind of saying is given by the later followers; but His Holiness Milarepa and Gampopa never so declared in the old days. The practice of Akrul- akor has two aspects: First, the practice of Taking the Refuges and Arousing the Bodhi Heart; and second, meditation on the Guru who sits upon one's own head and sincerely praying to him. These practices are definitely in accordance with the teachings of Tantra. The Yogi should first vividly visualize himself as the Father- Mother Patron Buddha. Master Pag- mo- grub- b’a exposed, in his Stanzas on the Skillful Path, the methods and physical exercises as follows: 1. Making the body full like a vase. Turning like a wheel. Bending like a hook. With the Vajra Mudra shooting the sky and tightening the lower part. Like a dog vomiting, shaking the body. Shaking the head and body, and stretching the limbs. These are the famous Six Exercises of Naropa. Making the body full like a vase: The Yogi should sit on a comfortable seat in a lotus posture, his body and spine erect; put his two palms on his two knees; inhale the air with the right nostril, and then look to the left and exhale all the air very slowly and gently. Take in the air with the right nostril and look toward the right, and slowly, gently, let all the breath out. Then take in the air with the left nostril and look toward the left; gently let the breath out as before. Next take in the air with both nostrils and let the breath out while the body remains sitting in a normal position. Repeat this manner of breathing three times. Altogether nine repetitions are required to expel all the defiled air within the body. During the inhaling and exhaling, the mouth should not be opened. The yogi should keep his body straight and turn his two fists inward. Then he should inhale very gently and slowly and send the air down below the navel. Meantime he should gulp down the air without any sound, using the diaphragm to press the Upper Prana down and to gently pull up the Lower Prana. The Six Yogas Of Naropa Pdf To JpgCHAPTER FOUR THE STEPS OF PRACTICE IN THE PATH. Those who declare that there are other teachings more profound than the Six Yogas of Naropa, speak nonsense. Read Online practice of the six yogas of naropa, practice of the six yogas of naropa PDF, Download practice of the six yogas of naropa Created Date. Thus, the Upper and Lower Prana meet and unite. The mind should concentrate on the center of the navel Chakra, and one should hold the breath as long as he can as if holding the air in a vase to its fullness. During this breath- holding period, all the body movements should be carried out. Although not a real Akrul- akor exercise, this exercise is called a form of Akrul- akor. At the moment when the yogi cannot hold the breath longer, he should very gently let the air out through the nostrils, but never through the mouth. While doing this, the mind should not think of anything. Turning like a Wheel: Sitting in the Lotus posture, use the fingers of the right hand to hold the large toe of the right foot and those of the left hand to hold the large toe of the left foot. Hold the body erect, and turn the waist and stomach clockwise three times; turn them counterclockwise three times. Next bend the body from left to right and from right to left three times; then bend the body forward and reverse it to the looking- up position. Repeat the body- bending three times.
Bending like a Hook: Put the two fists, in the vajra- fist manner, upon the Heart Center and stretch them forward with great force, then stretch both arms forward. Use the right fist to make a circle around the head from left to right. As the arm and fist come down, use the elbow to strike the side of the chest. Do the same movement with the left arm from the opposite direction. Then holding the Vajra- fists and putting them on the Heart Center, again stretch them forward with force. Next, stretch both arms to the right, as before, and strike the side of the chest. With the Vajra Mudra shooting the sky and tightening the lower part: Cross the two knees and hold the body erect. Join the fingers of both hands and massage the body from the lower part up to the head; then use the fingers to support the whole body and lift it up. Then suddenly loosen the fingers, and let the body drop down vehemently. Like a dog vomiting, shaking the body: Cross the knees and keep the body straight. Put the two hands on the ground, and then successively lift up the body and the head. As the hands release the support and the body drops down, the whole body should be waved and shaken as though trembling. At the same time exhale the air and utter a prolonged Ha sound, turning round at the waist. Shaking the head and body and stretching the limbs: Put the right hand on the left knee and the left hand on the right knee. Use the fingers of both hands to pull up the knees, then shake the head and body. The yogi who practices these exercises must be acquainted with the art of holding the breath. He must be at ease and gentle. The best time to practice these exercises is before eating, or some time after the meal when the stomach is not too full. These exercises should be practised until the body becomes very flexible and energetic. The Practice of the Visualization of the Stong- ra(the Empty Body)The Yogi should visualize the image of the patron Buddha as before, but now he should especially visualize the interior of the body as clear and transparent, like crystal, from the top of the head to the soles of the feet. In this manner, the yogi should try to stabilize the visualization. The practice of mental visualization and the physical exercises should be carried out alternatively. The Stong- ra practice is to visualize the body without the slightest shadow or obstruction as if one were seeing a clear rainbow. Although one's body cannot at this stage actually become (a body of rainbow), the stabilization of this visualization will enable the yogi to overcome the hazards—the nerve pains and prana pains—which he may encounter during his practice. Because of this Stong- ra practice, the greater pains or hazards will not arise; even if these pains do arise they can be subdued by the practice of Stong- ra visualization. This is the special advantage of practicing Stong- ra as well as the physical exercises. Although there are a number of different statements and arrangements of the Stong- ra practice, the teaching of Pag- mo- grub- b’a says no more than the instruction given above; therefore, one should know that to follow this instruction is quite sufficient. Though one may not find many accounts of the Stong- ra and physical exercises in the main Tantras, these are the pith- instructions taught by the masters. Furthermore, in the practice on Rtsa. Samadhi through the gentle or soft practice; therefore, the radical or strong practice is needed. In that case it is believed that these preparatory practices will minimize hazards and obstacles. The Actual Successive Practice of the Path. This is expounded in two sections: The classifications of the Path; and the instruction of entering into the Path. There are different ways to classify this teaching—some divide it into two groups; some, into three, four, six, or ten. However, from the viewpoint of befitting the different dispositions or capacities of human beings, the teachings can be classified in three groups. First, the teaching that enables one to become the perfect Buddha in this very life; second, the teaching that enables one to become Buddha in the Bardo state; third, the teaching that enables one to become Buddha in future lives. From the viewpoint of the nature of the practice, the teaching can be divided into the ordinary Perfecting Yoga, and the outstanding betterment practice of the Perfecting Yoga The latter is not usually found in the teachings of the masters of this school (Kar- gyupa), who mainly depend on the pith- instructions alone. However, those masters in the Marpa school who held the tradition of preaching the Tantra do accept this type of teaching. Marpa said. In particular, he relied on the practice of the Heat Yoga of the Vajra, which produces the four blisses. Later on, through the practices of Karmayoga, the four blisses were also raised within him. From this we know that, in the teaching of Hevajra, he relied mainly on the Heat Yoga and Karma- yoga. Again Marpa said. Thus Marpa learned the teaching of the Illusory Body and Great Light of Gsun- wa- adus- b’a from both Ye- shes- snying- po and Naropa. As for the teaching of Transformation Yoga and Yoga of Entrance, he mainly derived them from the masterly Gdan- bzhi. Tantra. According to the classification of the Six Yogas of Naropa, the yogas are: Heat Yoga, Yoga of Illusory Body, Light Yoga, Transformation Yoga, Yoga of Entrance and Bardo Yoga. Both the Dream Yoga and Bardo Yoga are ramifications of the Yoga of Illusory Body. It is better to appropriate the Light- of- Sleep. Yoga of Illusory Body; also it is more convenient to classify the Transformation Yoga and the Yoga of Entrance as one. The pith- instruction of Milarepa stated. These six teachings are the heart- like pith- instruction of Marpa, the final teachings of the Whisper Succession. No other teachings of any Path- with- Form can be found superior in essence to these. There is no other temporary or final instruction that does not belong to this teaching. The teaching of the Six Yogas is itself the Perfecting Yoga. Those who declare that there are other teachings more profound than the Six Yogas of Naropa, speak nonsense. Here it is proper to point out that, in general, the highest Perfecting Yoga must first provide the method of inducingthe . This teaching is indispensable, though there are a great many different methods given by accomplished yogis who relied on different Tantras. In this teaching (of Six Yogas), the method of meditating on the . Ah at the Transformation Center of the navel is used to gather the Live- Dynamic Prana into the Central Channel. Through the entrance of the air into the Central Channel, the four blisses are produced, and finally, the Mahamudra Innate Wisdom. In this profound Teaching of Skillfulness. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas is the sixth game in the Rainbow Six series of video games. It was released for the Xbox 3. November 2. 1, 2. Windows on December 1. The Play. Station Portable version was released on June 1. Play. Station 3 version was released on June 2. The game's storyline follows a new Rainbow team that is dispatched to Las Vegas, Nevada to defeat international terrorist Irena Morales and her army of mercenaries that is repeatedly attacking key locations in the city. A sequel developed by Ubisoft Montreal was released on seventh generation consoles in March 2. PC in April 2. 00. The player's vision is greatly impaired while damaged, similar to the health system in Gears of War. The player can also give voice commands using the Xbox 3. Play. Station 3 headset. The player also has various skills, such as the ability to rappel up and down buildings while shooting and the ability to fast rope into an area. In the year 2. 01. Rainbow operatives Logan Keller (Andrew Pifko), Gabriel Nowak (Thomas Michael) and Kan Akahashi (Dennis Akayama) are on a mission in a Mexican border town, assisted by intelligence officer Joanna Torres (Athena Karkanis) and pilot Brody Lukin (Andrew Pifko). Their objective is to arrest Irena Morales (Amanda Martinez), a terrorist ringleader. As the team reaches its landing zone in a helicopter, Logan fast- ropes down first but is separated from his group. Logan fights his way through the terrorist- infested streets and meets up with Gabriel and Kan at an old Spanish church. After infiltrating a train yard and freeing a group of hostages, Rainbow eventually makes their way to a mine where Irena is hiding. However, after a surprise attack, Irena escapes and Gabriel and Kan are captured by terrorists. Alone and armed only with his sidearm, Logan fights his way through an abandoned factory, eventually escaping by helicopter. He is then instructed to handle a related crisis in Las Vegas. He is dropped outside the Calypso Casino and links up with his new team: Michael Walters (Isaac C. Singleton Jr.), a British demolitions expert, and Jung Park (Paul Sun Hyung), a Korean electronics expert. The team clears out the casino and saves a group of hostages. They also rescue a NATO weapons researcher, who reveals that a second researcher has been captured. Rainbow is then taken to the Red Lotus casino in order to rescue a kidnapped reporter. The reporter informs them that the terrorists are using a news van as a communications hub. Logan's team destroys the hub, then flies out to rescue the kidnapped weapons researcher. Rainbow is dropped on the Vertigo Spire, a luxury hotel along the likes of the Stratosphere. The team finds and rescues the missing researcher, who informs the team about a micro- pulse bomb that was placed in the Vertigo. Michael disarms the bomb, and Rainbow is then extracted to locate Gabriel and Kan. The team is dispatched to Dante. They also find Kan, but he is fatally shot in an ambush. Before he dies, Kan reveals that the attack in Las Vegas is a distraction, and Irena's terrorists are planning a far bigger attack. The team proceeds to a theater to hack a terrorist server. Irena's target is revealed to be the Nevada Dam (very similar to the Hoover Dam). Rainbow arrives at the dam, where they discover another micro- pulse bomb. After Michael defuses the bomb, the team fast- ropes to the bottom of the dam. A hostage informs them that the dam will buckle unless they open an emergency release valve. The crisis is resolved and the team proceeds further into the dam, where they find that it is a weapons research lab. It turns out the terrorists have a micro- pulse missile on top of the dam. Logan presses forward, confronts Irena Morales herself and kills her. The team then heads to the top of the dam and destroys the missile. Logan receives a transmission from Gabriel, who tells him that he is Irena's mole. He proceeds to hijack the team's helicopter and throws out Joanna and Brody. Gabriel attempts to escape with the helicopter. Logan can either let Gabriel escape or he can shoot it down with his weapon. Afterward, Logan and the team are sent out to find the organization behind Irena's and Gabriel's terrorist activity. When the mission completes, the words . As the credits roll, a news clip states that a helicopter had crashed in the lake, but Gabriel's body was not found. Development. Eventually, patches were released months after the game's release. One of the main things that the game was criticised for was the lack of a stand- alone dedicated server for the PC version, which the community tried to develop on their own, in hopes that Ubisoft improve on what the community tried to accomplish. However, Ubisoft took the unmodified stand alone dedicated server and included it into a patch. During November 2. North American Support Supervisor announced on the Ubisoft forums that Ubisoft . Since that time, Ubisoft has released the latest patch 1. The bonus disc contained a documentary on the making of Rainbow Six: Vegas and a Rainbow Six retrospective, which features information on all Rainbow Six games in the series. Today, in this tutorial we have tried to list almost all popular web application testing tools which are useful to find issues present in any web application. Testing existing software applications to make sure that a change or addition hasn’t broken any existing functionality is called regression testing. Regression testing is a type of software testing. LITERAL MEANING OF REGRESSION. Regression testing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Regression testing is a type of software testing that verifies that software previously developed and tested still performs correctly even after it was changed or interfaced with other software. Changes may include software enhancements, patches, configuration changes, etc. During regression testing, new software bugs or regressions may be uncovered. The Inaugural Coase Lecture An Introduction to Regression Analysis Alan O. Sykes* Regression analysis is a statistical tool for the investigation of re-. Any time you modify an implementation within a program, you should also do regression testing. You can do so by rerunning existing tests against the modified code to. Model Diagnostics for Regression After fitting a regression model it is important to determine whether all the necessary. What is Regression testing in. Progressive Regression Testing. If regression testing is done without using automated tools then it can be very tedious. An Introduction to Regression Testing Prof. Sometimes a software change impact analysis is performed to determine what areas could be affected by the proposed changes. These areas may include functional and non- functional areas of the system. The purpose of regression testing is to ensure that changes such as those mentioned above have not introduced new faults. Regression testing can be performed to test a system efficiently by systematically selecting the appropriate minimum set of tests needed to adequately cover a particular change. Contrast with non- regression testing (usually validation- test for a new issue), which aims to verify whether, after introducing or updating a given software application, the change has had the intended effect. Background. Sometimes re- emergence occurs because a fix gets lost through poor revision control practices (or simple human error in revision control). Often, a fix for a problem will be . Frequently, a fix for a problem in one area inadvertently causes a software bug in another area. Finally, it may happen that, when some feature is redesigned, some of the same mistakes that were made in the original implementation of the feature are made in the redesign. Therefore, in most software development situations, it is considered good coding practice, when a bug is located and fixed, to record a test that exposes the bug and re- run that test regularly after subsequent changes to the program. Those strategies can be automated by an external tool. Regression testing is an integral part of the extreme programming software development method. In this method, design documents are replaced by extensive, repeatable, and automated testing of the entire software package throughout each stage of the software development process. Regression testing is done after functional testing has concluded, to verify that the other functionalities are working. In the corporate world, regression testing has traditionally been performed by a software quality assurance team after the development team has completed work. However, defects found at this stage are the most costly to fix. This problem is being addressed by the rise of unit testing. Although developers have always written test cases as part of the development cycle, these test cases have generally been either functional tests or unit tests that verify only intended outcomes. Developer testing compels a developer to focus on unit testing and to include both positive and negative test cases. Though it is expensive as it needs to re- run all the cases, it ensures that there are no errors because of the modified code. Test case prioritization techniques schedule test cases so that the test cases that are higher in priority are executed before the test cases that have a lesser priority. Algorithms for the approach that have been proposed are test selection algorithm and hybrid technique proposed. Regression testing can be achieved through multiple approaches, if a test all approach is followed it provides certainty that the changes made to the software have not affected the existing functionalities, which are unaltered, in any way. For this reason, performing a regression test on a database application could prove to be taxing as it would require a great deal of manual effort. Theoretically, after each fix one must run the entire batch of test cases previously run against the system, to ensure that it has not been damaged in an obscure way. In practice, such regression testing must indeed approximate this theoretical idea, and it is very costly. Regression tests can be broadly categorized as functional tests or unit tests. Functional tests exercise the complete program with various inputs. Unit tests exercise individual functions, subroutines, or object methods. Both functional testing tools and unit testing tools tend to be third- party products that are not part of the compiler suite, and both tend to be automated. A functional test may be a scripted series of program inputs, possibly even involving an automated mechanism for controlling mouse movements and clicks. A unit test may be a set of separate functions within the code itself, or a driver layer that links to the code without altering the code being tested. See also. The Art of Software Testing. Regression means retesting the unchanged parts of the application. Test cases are re- executed in order to check whether previous functionality of application is working fine and new changes have not introduced any new bugs. This test can be performed on a new build when there is significant change in original functionality or even a single bug fix. This is the method of verification. Verifying that the bugs are fixed and the newly added features have not created in problem in previous working version of software. Testers perform functional testing when new build is available for verification. The intend of this test is to verify the changes made in the existing functionality and newly added functionality. When this test is done tester should verify if the existing functionality is working as expected and new changes have not introduced any defect in functionality that was working before this change. Regression test should be the part of release cycle and must be considered in test estimation. Regression testing is usually performed after verification of changes or new functionality. But this is not the case always. For the release taking months to complete, regression tests must be incorporated in the daily test cycle. For weekly releases regression tests can be performed when functional testing is over for the changes. Why Regression Test? Regression testing is initiated when programmer fix any bug or add new code for new functionality to the system. There can be many dependencies in newly added and existing functionality. It is a quality measure to check that new code complies with old code and unmodified code is not getting affected. Most of the time testing team has task to check the last minute changes in the system. In such situation testing only affected application area in necessary to complete the testing process in time with covering all major system aspects. This test is very important when there is continuous change/improvements added in the application. The new functionality should not negatively affect existing tested code. How Much Regression Testing? This depends on the scope of newly added feature. If the scope of the fix or feature is large then the application area getting affected is quite large and testing should be performed thoroughly including all the application test cases. But this can be effectively decided when tester gets input from developer about the scope, nature and amount of change. Types of Regression tests: As these are repetitive tests, test cases can be automated so that set of test cases can be easily executed on new build. Regression test cases needs to be selected very carefully so that in minimum set of test cases maximum functionality is covered. These set of test cases need continuous improvements for newly added functionality. It becomes very difficult when the application scope is very huge and there are continuous increments or patches to the system. In such cases selective tests needs to be executed in order to save testing cost and time. These selective test cases are picked based on the enhancements done to the system and parts where it can affect the most. What We Do in Regression Test? Rerunning the previously conducted tests. Comparing current results with previously executed test results. This is a continuous process performed at various stages throughout the software testing life cycle. A best practice is to conduct regression test after the sanity or smoke testing and at the end of functional testing for a short release. To conduct effective testing, regression test plan should to be created. This plan should outline the regression testing strategy and exit criteria. Performance testing is also the part of this test to make sure system performance is not affected due to the changes made in the system components. Regression testing best practices: Run automated test cases every day in the evening so that any regression side effects can be fixed in next days build. This way it reduces the release risk by covering almost all regression defects in early stages rather than finding and fixing those at the end of the release cycle. Regression Testing Tools. Automated Regression Testing is the testing area where we can automate most of the testing efforts. We run all the previously executed test cases on new build. This means we have test case set available and running these test cases manually is time consuming. We know the expected results so automating these test cases is time saving and efficient regression test method. Extent of automation depends on the number of test cases that are going to remain applicable over the time. If test cases are varying time to time as application scope goes on increasing then automation of regression procedure will be the waste of time. Most of the regression test tools are record and playback type. The test cases written on old GUI either becomes obsolete or need to modify. Reusing the regression testing test cases means GUI test cases are modified according to new GUI. But this task becomes cumbersome if you have large set of GUI test cases. Example regression testing tools are: Most of these tools are both functional and regression test tools. Adding and updating regression test cases in automation test suite is cumbersome task. While selecting automation tool for regression tests, you should check if the tool allows you to add or update the test cases easily. In most cases we need to update automated regression test cases frequently due to frequent changes in the system. Hope this explains the regression testing concept and best practices. The term refers especially to human beings, many animals, and fungi, whereas for example bacteria, perennial plants and some simple animals are potentially immortal. In the broader sense, ageing can refer to single cells within an organism which have ceased dividing (cellular senescence) or to the population of a species (population ageing). In humans, ageing represents the accumulation of changes in a human being over time. Reaction time, for example, may slow with age, while knowledge of world events and wisdom may expand. Ageing is among the greatest known risk factors for most human diseases.

Programmed ageing should not be confused with programmed cell death (apoptosis). The discovery, in 1. Ageing versus immortality. Such single- celled organisms (prokaryotes, protozoans, algae) multiply by fissioning into daughter cells, thus do not age and are innately immortal. The sexual organism could henceforth pass on some of its genetic material to produce new individuals and itself could become disposable with regards to the survival of its species. Only 2. 0% however report disabling osteoarthritis at this age. Furthermore, many types of memory may decline with ageing, but not semantic memory or general knowledge such as vocabulary definitions, which typically increases or remains steady until late adulthood. Intelligence may decline with age, though the rate may vary depending on the type and may in fact remain steady throughout most of the lifespan, dropping suddenly only as people near the end of their lives. Individual variations in rate of cognitive decline may therefore be explained in terms of people having different lengths of life. Macular degeneration causes vision loss and increases with age, affecting nearly 1. In industrialised nations, the proportion is higher, reaching 9. A primary model organism for studying ageing is the nematode. C. Programmed factors follow a biological timetable, perhaps a continuation of the one that regulates childhood growth and development. This regulation would depend on changes in gene expression that affect the systems responsible for maintenance, repair and defence responses. Damage- related factors include internal and environmental assaults to living organisms that induce cumulative damage at various levels. For example, numerous perennial plants ranging from strawberries and potatoes to willow trees typically produce clones of themselves by vegetative reproduction and are thus potentially immortal, while annual plants such as wheat and watermelons die each year and reproduce by sexual reproduction. In 2. 00. 8 it was discovered that inactivation of only two genes in the annual plant Arabidopsis thaliana leads to its conversion into a potentially immortal perennial plant. Some of the targeted genes have homologues across species and in some cases have been associated with human longevity. Sirtuin in turn inhibits m. TOR. When organisms restrict their diet, m. TOR activity is reduced, which allows an increased level of autophagy. This recycles old or damaged cell parts, which increases longevity and decreases the chances of being obese. This is thought to prevent spikes of glucose concentration in the blood, leading to reduced insulin signalling. This has been linked to less m. TOR activation as well. Therefore, longevity has been connected to caloric restriction and insulin sensitivity inhibiting m. TOR, which in turns allows autophagy to occur more frequently. It may be that m. TOR inhibition and autophagy reduce the effects of reactive oxygen species on the body, which damage DNA and other organic material, so longevity would be increased. The precise mechanism by which decreased GH/IGF- 1 signalling increases longevity is unknown, but various mouse strains with decreased GH and/or IGF- 1 induced signalling share a similar phenotype which includes increased insulin sensitivity, enhanced stress resistance and protection from carcinogenesis. The studied mouse strains with decreased GH signalling showed between 2. IGF- 1 induced signalling revealed a 1. The fact that DNA methylation age of blood predicts all- cause mortality in later life. Traits that benefit early survival and reproduction will be selected for even if they contribute to an earlier death. Such a genetic effect is called the antagonistic pleiotropy effect when referring to a gene (pleiotropy signifying the gene has a double function . Also, it has been suggested that some of the genetic variants that increase fertility in the young increase cancer risk in the old. Such variants occur in genes p. Moreover, the hormones that regulate reproduction also regulate cellular metabolism, explaining the increases in fat deposition during pregnancy through to the deposition of centralised adiposity with the dysregulation of the HPG axis following menopause and during andropause (Atwood and Bowen, 2. This theory, which introduced a new definition of ageing, has facilitated the conceptualisation of why and how ageing occurs at the evolutionary, physiological and molecular levels. A number of diseases associated with ageing, such as atrophic gastritis and Hashimoto's thyroiditis, are probably autoimmune in this way. However, while inflammation is very much evident in old mammals, even completely immunodeficient mice raised in pathogen- free laboratory conditions still experience senescence. In 2. 01. 1, it was demonstrated that acetylation levels of AMP- activated protein kinase change with age in yeast and that preventing this change slows yeast ageing. DNA damage causes the cells to stop dividing or induces apoptosis, often affecting stem cell pools and hence hindering regeneration. However, lifelong studies of mice suggest that most mutations happen during embryonic and childhood development, when cells divide often, as each cell division is a chance for errors in DNA replication. These numbers are close to the ratio of the maximum longevities of the two species (1. As stated by lead author, Bernard L. For example, a waste product called lipofuscin is formed by a complex reaction in cells that binds fat to proteins. This waste accumulates in the cells as small granules, which increase in size as a person ages. The situation, however, has been complicated by the identification that autophagy up- regulation can also occur during ageing. Notwithstanding the similarly low calorie intake, the diet composition differed between the two studies (notably a high sucrose content in the Wisconsin study), and the monkeys have different origins (India, China), initially suggesting that genetics and dietary composition, not merely a decrease in calories, are factors in longevity. Once these factors are accounted for, the optimal body weight above age 6. People who live the longest report sleeping for six to seven hours each night. A chronically high cortisol level compromises the immune system, causes cardiac damage/arterosclerosis and is associated with facial ageing, and the latter in turn is a marker for increased morbidity and mortality. Of particular note, the treatment began in mice aged 2. De. Pinho and his colleagues published research in mice where telomerase activity was first genetically removed. Then, after the mice had prematurely aged, they restored telomerase activity by reactivating the telomerase gene. As a result, the mice were rejuvenated: Shrivelled testes grew back to normal and the animals regained their fertility. Other organs, such as the spleen, liver, intestines and brain, recuperated from their degenerated state. However, activating telomerase in humans could potentially encourage the growth of tumours. However, the benefits may not be proportional; longevity gains are typically greater in C. One explanation for this is that mammals, being much longer- lived, already have many traits which promote lifespan. The Methuselah Foundation offers the Mprize. Recently, the $1 Million Palo Alto Longevity Prize was launched. It is a research incentive prize to encourage teams from all over the world to compete in an all- out effort to . It was founded by Joon Yun. The age of an adult human is commonly measured in whole years since the day of birth. Arbitrary divisions set to mark periods of life may include: juvenile (via infancy, childhood, preadolescence, adolescence), early adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood. More casual terms may include . These age specifications include voting age, drinking age, age of consent, age of majority, age of criminal responsibility, marriageable age, age of candidacy, and mandatory retirement age. Admission to a movie for instance, may depend on age according to a motion picture rating system. A bus fare might be discounted for the young or old. Each nation, government and non- governmental organisation has different ways of classifying age. In other words, chronological ageing may be distinguished from . In rural China, grandparents care for 3. Population ageing has three possible causes: migration, longer life expectancy (decreased death rate) and decreased birth rate. Ageing has a significant impact on society. Young people tend to have fewer legal privileges (if they are below the age of majority), they are more likely to push for political and social change, to develop and adopt new technologies, and to need education. Older people have different requirements from society and government, and frequently have differing values as well, such as for property and pension rights. Consequently, fertility rates have continued to decline and life expectancy have risen. Life expectancy at birth is over 8. According to the United Nations, this process is taking place in nearly every country in the world. |
